When you come to Japan and you want to geek out on camera gear, there are so many camera stores here in Tokyo to pick from. Yodobashi Camera is my favorite camera store to purchase all my camera needs. From cameras and accessories to TVs and washers, even the odd electronic item that you can’t tell what it is for, you will find everything you need at the store. The one Yodobashi camera store that I always end up going to is the one in Shinjuku. I always wanted to try to capture this store in an interesting way but the building is located in a tight narrow street near the station which is packed with hundreds of people everyday. I was using a Canon 17-40 lens and it’s a wide lens, but not wide enough to get all of the building without getting all the foot traffic. Finally, I picked up the Sony 10-18 lens for my A7R and works amazingly well on this body even though it was made for the NEX system. I am still blown away by how much I can get into a 12mm frame. So once I got this lens, I made sure that I had time to come and photograph this spot. This is just one of the many Yodobashi Camera stores here in the Tokyo area. This image was taken with the Sony A7r with the 10-18 lens. I took 3 images (-2/0/+2) and blended the highlights back in and the shadows back in the buildings. ALSO, the store gives you 10% of you purchase in points to your club card. However, if you tell them you want a discount instead of the points, they will give you 10% off the price of the item. WHAT A DEAL!
