I just picked this lens up a few days ago and wanted to do a Unboxing of this Sony 10-18 lens. I know a lot of people ask me why a APS-C lens for a Full Frame camera but it turns out that this lens works AMAZINGLY from 12-17. It’s a super wide angle lens and I found my elf always wanting more than 17mm on my Canon 17-40. It will kinda suck only having 7mm to work with, but when am doing city landscapes(I do A LOT) I tend to live at the wide end of my 17-40. One of the main reasons I picked this lens up is it’s about half the weight of the Canon lens with the adapter and it has AUTO FOCUS! I have been living without it ever since I picked up the Sony and am happy to have it back. Will I use Auto focus for my landscape work? NO, I will still manually focus to get my super sharp images but I can walk around and just enjoy a small lightweight lens for travel and not have to punch in to get perfect focus. Well here is a sample image I took with the Sony 10-18 lens. This was taken at ISO 400 at F/4 and 1/25 of a sec while the lens was set to 12mm. YES, it’s the Full 36 megapixels size image. No Crop! The image has been scaled down for the web but you can see that it does have some issues at the corners and the lines are a little bending at some points too. But this is a SOC image besides the profile corrections added.

If you want to ask me anything about this or have me test anything for you before you buy, please ask me! Also, I want to know your thoughts on using APS-C lenses on Full Frame Bodies. Do you agree or Disagree? love to hear about it.
