So I just got my Sony A7R in the mail from DigitalRev.com and I wanted to do a first impressions of it. Very first impression of this camera was “oh my gosh it’s so small!”. The Sony A7R is ridiculously small but well built, this might be downsides for someone that has very large hands. After marveling at the size of the Sony A7R, I soon realize that most of my Canon lenses are going to be double the size of this body. One of the things that make the Sony A7R so special is the fact that you use different adapters so you can use your current glass or even vintage glass. I’ve been using only my Canon lenses on this so far and the focusing on it is sub par for what it should be doing. Just think of it as using your normal Canon camera in live view mode and have to focus like that all the time. However this camera does provide an excellent manual focusing system. The button layout is a little awkward at first however once you learn how to customize it, it then becomes quite fun. Here is a few videos i did with the Sony A7R.
So with this New to me Sony A7R in my hands, I will be putting this new camera to the ultimate test. I will be taking just this camera with me along with a A7 to Europe and leaving my Canon 5dM3 back in Tokyo. Like i said, its more of a quick “hey i get the Sony A7R and going to test it out” so please stay tuned and i will post a video and a blog post about it soon!
