Like most photographers who are new to any location, I tend to look at websites like Flickr or 500PX for searching great spots to save time and give me the best info on any place. One day, I was killing time on 500PX and I found this image under the term “shinjuku” on the search bar. I love seeing images like this because you would never find things like this from the outside of a building. I did some Google searches and it came up as the Shinjuku NS building, next to the Tokyo Metropolitan building which has an AMAZING observation deck. So before I went off to teach the Tokyo By Night tour with Eye Explore Tokyo one night, I planned to go early to Shinjuku. I entered the building thinking I would be kicked out as soon as I walk in with a large camera and a tripod but instead I was not even bothered once! The people who work at information desk and the security guards looked at me and both did not care I was there taking photos of this building. I set up my camera and fired off a few shots, packed my bag, and left. In total, I was there for about 15 minutes and got the shot I wanted. This was taken with the Canon 5Dm3 and the 17-40 lens.
